Your website may be under development, or you may want to host design comps to show clients. Or perhaps you just want to host some things for a small group of friends.
Whatever the reason, if you don't want your website to be publicly visible, it's possible to password protect your website.
You can see how protected sites look here. The password for the example is '1234'.
To get started, select your site in the staticloud admin and click on 'Password Protect'. We got one of our nephews to draw where.
You'll now see a dialog which gives you three options:
To password protect your entire site, select 'password protect the entire website', enter a password, click Save, and your done.
It's also possible to password protect a single folder of your website. This is useful when you have, say, some images you'd like to share with select friends but would like the rest of your site to be public. You'll just need to structure your files so that everything you want to be private is inside this folder. The first time a viewer tries to view a page inside this folder they'll be prompted for the password.
Select 'password protect a single folder', enter a password, then enter the name of the folder you would like protected. Finally click 'Save'.
